About a month ago, the boys and I decided to have a weekly tea time. At 3 o'clock every Monday, you'll find us at the kitchen table, sipping tea and having a treat and talking about our day. Well, you'll find them taking one sip of tea and asking that it be replaced with water or milk or juice, quickly inhaling a cookie and asking for another. All while telling me one tiny snippet of their day while crunching loudly.
We're working on it.
The real motivation and excitement for our weekly dates around the table comes from the treat involved. I've tried to change it up every week, and once it was a handful of animal crackers because that's just the way it goes.
But today we wanted something special, and I wanted something quick, and maybe not overly laden with calories. And so we have these little darlings, which come in at 100 calories each and are quite a treat, mother and kid approved.
dark chocolate almond grahams with sea salt
5 sheets of honey graham crackers
5 tablespoons of semi sweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup dry roasted almonds
sprinkling of sea salt
Divide each sheet of crackers into two squares.
Melt your chocolate chips in microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds. Stir and repeat.
Roughly chop almonds and set aside.
Spread each cracker with about a teaspoon of melted chocolate, sprinkle with almonds and a pinch of sea salt and place on a cookie sheet. Repeat with all 10 squares.
Place the cookie sheet in freezer or refrigerator to allow chocolate to harden.
Remove, serve, enjoy!
