I have mentioned before that Nick has a history of not-so-great gift giving.
Like the Christmas during our engagement, he gave me an electric toothbrush. Isn't that so romantic?
But in the last year, he has put me to shame. I have fallen into a major rut when it comes to getting him something special, and almost always resort to new clothes.
They are usually needed, but not the most thoughtful.
And then Mother's Day rolls around and he does it again.
About a month ago he told me what he got me. It wasn't something he could wrap and surprise me with, like the locket,
it was time. Time away.
This weekend, for two full days, I am going on a silent retreat.
And it's in a gorgeous location on the coast. I get to soak in the beauty of God's creation (it's where I feel Him most), learn from an amazing teacher, spend time in prayer and reflection, in worship and silence.
Added bonus: I get my own beautiful room with my own beautiful bed, where I can get beautiful, uninterrupted sleep.
I've never been on a silent retreat, but I am so excited.
I love my boys, more than words can express. But I think every mama out there can appreciate the beauty of time alone, time away, time in the Presence of our Creator.
I can't wait.
In addition to all that, immediately upon my return, we are hosting my entire family for a Mother's Day barbecue. That means Nick is in charge of the boys, cleaning the house, prepping the yard, and food for Sunday.
Have I mentioned that my husband is, beyond description, amazingly awesome? I am already working on Father's Day.
And, my sweet friends, I have a little surprise for you later in the week. I am working on some fun new things for the shop, and I want to do a giveaway for all the mamas out there.
You are doing an amazing work in the lives of your little ones and you deserve all the appreciation you can get! I want to do a little something for you, so stay tuned!
