{thankful} a day away.

Last week was a little bit of a doozy. We had a strong case of post vacation blues,
my two 2 year olds were sick and miserable, which meant we never left the house,
and to make up for time off, my husband spent some very long hours at work.
By Friday I was ready for a break (understatement of the century).
Thankfully, Fridays are also the days that our sweet babysitter comes over for three hours and I can head for the hills.
Well, usually just Target.

This particular afternoon I slipped away to a little coffee shop and sat in the sunlight basking through the window, sipped on my americano and planned my boy's birthday party.
Which was the next day, of course, but really, what does that matter?
Afterward I ran from here to there gathering supplies for the party and then something amazingly wonderful dawned on me.
My husband was coming home at just the time I was due back to relieve the babysitter.
Angels began singing around me as I dialed his cell.
Have I mentioned he is awesome and amazing?
Because when I sheepishly asked if he minded if I stayed out awhile longer and maybe went and saw The Hunger Games, he was so enthused and encouraging, I would have smacked a big kiss right on his lips through the phone if I could have.
So that's what I did. I embraced my inner nerd with open arms and went to a movie alone on a Friday afternoon.
It was one of the loveliest 2 hours and 22 minutes of the week. And I am not saying that because I am swooning over the movie.
(But, let's face, I did. And I will again.)
But because it was a blissful, entertaining, undistracted afternoon.
It was exactly what I needed - my reset button for the week.
I am thankful for time away, for a babysitter that my kids adore, for refreshment, for Katniss and Peeta and Rue.
But mostly, I am thankful that I am married to Nick, who gets me and knows when I need time and is willing to give it to me, even after a hectic work week.
So grateful. Thanks, love.

Now it's your turn! Link up with a story of a way that you were blessed this week.
What are you thankful for? It can be small or grand, a gesture, a nudge, an embrace.
Moments alone, time with loved ones, a realization, a finished to do list - whatever it is,
I'd love to hear about it.
So grab a button, link up, and share in each other's blessings.
a punk, a pumpkin and a peanut

Notice the new button? I changed it up so we didn't have to limit our thankfulness to Thursdays - feel free to link up all week!

  8. What better way to have some alone time than watching The Hunger Games!! I love it!! The post-vacation blues are the WORST!! Also, I wish I lived near you and I would volunteer to babysit all the time! haha (I did NOT mean for that to sound so creepy/weird hahahah). I hope you get more "YOU" time! You deserve it!
